  Mashuq Ally

  Dr. M. Mashuq Ally is the Chair of the Full Governing Board of BGGS; and is member of Birmingham City Council Schools Forum.

  He also a Trustee and Director of Markfield Institute of Higher Education; Board member of the Shaikh Zayed Fund in Islamic Studies at University of Cambridge; Director of Global Trading Enterprises in Turkey which is engaged in humanitarian work with refugees. He is currently supporting a number of voluntary organisations develop their strategic plans.

  Dr. Ally retired from Birmingham City Council in 2017 where he was corporate director for Equalities, Social Cohesion and Community Safety and lead strategic officer for Preventing Violent Extremism.

  Prior to coming to Birmingham Dr. Ally spent 20 years in academia.

  Yvonne Mosquito

  Yvonneserved as a Birmingham City Councillor for 30 years (1996–10 May 2026), holding senior roles including Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources, where she oversaw the Council's £3.8 billion budget. She has also served as Deputy and Acting Police and Crime Commissioner for the West Midlands, Commissioner for the national Legal Services Commission, Non‑Executive Director of the Birmingham Strategic Health Authority, and Lord Mayor of Birmingham.

  She has been actively involved in educational, community development, and charitable organisations since the age of 17. In 2020 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Aston University. She currently chairs the Star King Solomon LAB and is a Minister/Pastor for the UPCG. Yvonne honours the Sabbath online with the SDA Church in Kings Norton.

  Ayisha Ali

  Ayisha Ali is an accomplished education professional with 25 years of experience in the education sector, having begun her career as a Religious Education teacher in Birmingham after graduating from the University of Leeds. Throughout her career, she has worked across Birmingham, Bradford, and London, gaining extensive experience in teaching, leadership, school improvement, and strategic educational development. Her expertise and contributions are recognised not only across Birmingham but also nationally and internationally, where she has supported educational leaders, practitioners, and organisations on a range of complex educational and safeguarding matters.

  Having served as a Deputy Headteacher, Ayisha now works as a Senior Education Adviser for Birmingham City Council, where she leads and supports a broad range of educational priorities across the city. Her current work centres on safeguarding, PSHE/RSHE, Prevent, violence against women and girls (VAWG), and harmful cultural practices, providing strategic leadership and specialist support to schools and educational settings across Birmingham and beyond.

  Ayisha has extensive expertise in leadership, governance, safeguarding, curriculum development, and school improvement. She has played a key lead role in shaping Birmingham's approach to Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) and works closely with a wide range of national and local partners, including the Department for Education, the Home Office, Public Health, the Birmingham GP Safeguarding Network, policing colleagues, community organisations, safeguarding agencies, and health professionals.

  A recognised and respected adviser, Ayisha is frequently called upon to support schools and organisations in navigating complex and sensitive issues. Her work includes advising on safeguarding concerns, community tensions, extremism and radicalisation risks, serious incidents affecting schools, and the wellbeing and safety of children and young people. Her strategic and solutions-focused approach enables educational leaders to respond effectively to challenging situations whilst promoting positive outcomes for pupils, families, and communities.

  Ayisha has also held a variety of trustee, governor, and advisory board positions, championing safeguarding, equity, and educational opportunity. As a former student of Bordesley Green Girls' School, she is proud to serve as the school's Safeguarding Governor, supporting its ongoing commitment to the safety, wellbeing, and achievement of its pupils. She currently serves on advisory groups, including Birmingham Against FGM, contributing to initiatives that improve outcomes for children, young people, and vulnerable communities.

   

  Ayisha has a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Birmingham, this has further strengthened her expertise in strategic leadership, organisational development, and educational change. With a career defined by innovation, collaboration, and a deep commitment to improving the lives of children and young people, she continues to influence educational practice, policy, and partnership working locally, nationally, and internationally.

  Elly Tobin, OBE has over three decades of experience as a senior leader in international and UK national institutions. She worked for over 25 years in international education and from 2008-2019 was Principal of Joseph Chamberlain College in Birmingham, UK as well as the Director of the College for International Citizenship which offers short programmes in global studies and international relations. She continues to work as an international school accreditor with WASC and CIS accreditation teams and has inspected international schools at all levels. She is also a Lead Improvement Practitioner for COBIS (Council of British international Schools). She is one of the founder directors of the International Writing Project (IWP) which delivers teacher training to develop better writing skills most recently in Thailand, Panama, India and Europe. Retiring as Principal of Joseph Chamberlain College in January 2019, she retains the directorship of the College for International Citizenship and is now a senior consultant for Consilium Education operating worldwide with the most recent projects being in Siberia and Uzbekistan. She also coaches and mentors senior leaders and delivers Middle Management training in UK colleges. Elly is a respected workshop presenter and keynote speaker at conferences around the world. She has published two children's books and continues to write children's stores as a hobby. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by Aston University for her work in education and is currently living in Birmingham UK.

  Andrew Bryan is the ICT Learning Mentor at Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form, (although his Bachelor of Science degree is Biological Sciences, not Computer Science), and has been Staff Governor for several years. Having worked at the school for over three decades, Andrew has been deeply involved in, (and in some cases, led), the development in the use of digital technology within the school, almost from its inception. During that time, he has seen many changes as the school moved forward in different areas; watching the degree to which these have led to further developments has given him a broader understanding of the needs and opportunities within the school and in the wider community.

  Andrew's job role includes a wide range of responsibilities, including lesson support, development of resources, (for staff and students), staff training, and student enrichment activities to name but a few. Working directly with both students and staff, Andrew has a “grass roots” understanding of both existing strengths within the school and areas for possible development. Although Governors make long term, (strategic), rather than operational, (day to day), decisions about the school's management, Andrew feels that being “in touch” with both students and staff gives him valuable insights to bring to his Governor role.

  Having worked under four Head Teachers, (and been a Governor under three of them), Andrew has a clear understanding of the supportive role of School Governors and the importance of suggesting solutions, not listing problems. This is particularly relevant in his role as Staff Wellbeing Governor, Staff Wellbeing being a priority in the school and Ofsted inspections.

  Muhammad Kamran Siddiqui

  Muhammad Kamran Siddiqui is an academic professional and governance leader with experience in higher education, academic administration, and business management within the UK and internationally. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of Governors at Bordesley Green Girls' School & Sixth Form, where he supports the governing board in promoting effective governance, student achievement, SEND provision, safeguarding, and continuous school improvement. His governance approach is centred on accountability, collaboration, strategic vision and decision-making, and fostering an environment where students feel supported, inspired, and empowered to excel both personally and academically. Alongside his governance role, he has worked within the higher education sector in academic leadership and programme management roles, supporting teaching, learning, and quality assurance processes.

  Kamran is currently pursuing his PhD in Business from Birmingham City University UK and holds degrees of MPhil (management sciences) and master's in business administration. His professional background includes experience in accounts and administration, business management, educational consultancy, programme leadership, and academic quality assurance. He has worked with diverse learners and educational teams, contributing to curriculum delivery, student support, and organisational development within higher education settings. His interests include leadership, education, and supporting learners to achieve their academic and professional goals. His role reflects a strong commitment to widening participation, learner empowerment, and promoting excellence in education through innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.

  As Vice-Chair of Governors, he is passionate about creating positive educational opportunities for young people and supporting this school in delivering high standards of education and student wellbeing. He values collaboration, accountability, and inclusive learning environments that help students build confidence, ambition, and future aspirations.

  Lead professional in the delivery of a clerking and administrative service for SIPS Education to 10 school governing boards across Birmingham and the Black Country. Part of my role includes ensuring procedural and legal compliance, and offering advice, support and guidance in relation to best practice to the Governing Board and Head Teacher.

  Safina is an experienced leader having worked across Health and Social Care covering both strategic and operational delivery in social work , Commissioning, Public health , Policy and transformation . She has over 35 years' experience working across Local Government, Voluntary Sector and National Health Service Including strategic roles at regional level for West Midlands Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (WMADASS) ,West Midlands Academic Health Science Network and National Institute in Mental Health England (NIMHE).

  • West Midlands Academic Health Science Network Establishing a programme of work delivering on digital and data technologies as enablers of change, creating new opportunities that improve social care and Health outcomes for citizens.
  • West Midlands ADASS leading on establishing and chairing a Regional Carers Network and facilitating a carers work including Young Carers programme developing a Carers Charter endorsed by the 14 Local Authorities.

  • Whilst working for National Institute in Mental Health (NIHME) she has part of the strategic team in establishing the regional voluntary sector forum for mental health and setting up the programme for social care.

  Safina has been part of the national group providing guidance on Delivering Race Equality in mental health.

  Whist in Birmingham City Council as a Strategic Lead implemented an Apprenticeship scheme for Looked after children / Care Leavers.This was a joint approach with public health as part of Corporate Parenting responsibilities as well as tackling wider health inequalities

  Safina remains passionate about challenging discrimination and tackling inequalities

  Safina has substantial board level Experience which has included Housing association and Women's Refuge. She is currently a trustee for Age Concern Birmingham and a member of the board on Health determinates research collaborative Sandwell . In her spare time she volunteers for Barnardos supporting local play and stay toddler sessions .

  Safina is a Qualified and Register Social worker with experience of working with children, Vulnerable adults and people with Complex mental health and Learning Disabilities .She has a master's in business administration public Sector and a Masters in Public Health
