Parent Consultation Event: school uniform changes

A change to the school uniform will be introduced gradually from September 2019. We want to hear your views about our plans for the new uniform and give parents and carers the opportunity to comment.

There will be further communication over the coming weeks to ensure that parents and carers are fully informed; however, the biggest change to our uniform will be the introduction of a blazer and possibly a change of colour.

The change is being introduced after consultation with students to improve the standard of uniform worn in the school and to ensure that a smart uniform is consistently worn by all our student body.

The changes will ensure smarter standards of appearance as students are currently taking too wide an interpretation of what our school uniform is.  Crucially, it will mean that valuable teacher time is not wasted on dealing with issues relating to uniform. The changes that we will be making will introduce standardised items of school uniform. The uniform will only be available to buy from our chosen suppliers to ensure that uniform variation is eliminated.

To try and minimise the financial implications for parents, we intend a phased introduction of the new uniform:

  •  The new uniform will be compulsory to New Year 7 students who will be starting at Bordesley Green Girls’ School and Sixth Form Centre in September 2019
  • The academic year 2019-2020 will be a transition year. This means that existing students can wear the existing school uniform; however, students wishing to purchase new uniform items will have to buy the new uniform.
  • From September 2020, all students will fully move onto the new uniform.

We hope this advance notice will enable you to be able to plan so that your daughter can meet the requirements of the new school uniform by September 2020.

 Let us know your views

Any parents / carers wishing to discuss any of the above, can attend the parent consultation session which has been arranged for Monday 25th March 2019 from 3:30pm-4:30pm. or you can let us have you feedback by email to svoutsinou@bordgrng.bham.sch.uk
