  • Thursday 28 May 2020 The Law Curriculum at BGGS Law is part of social science, it uses rules to govern individuals' personal, social, economic and political relationships. To study law is to study the nature of those relationships. We in the Law department endeavour to empower our students with the understanding and knowledge of those rules and facilitate our students with highly valuable skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Wednesday 20 May 2020 Letter from the Council about the safe re-opening of schools Birmingham City Council have written a letter explaining they support schools making decisions about when it is safe to begin to begin to bring students back to school. You can read it here.

  • Thursday 14 May 2020 The ICT Curriculum at BGGS Our mission is to allow students to be part of the digital revolution and be at the forefront of technology in the 21st Century. They will have the confidence to use the range of information technologies that are currently available, as well as being adaptable and resilient enough to deal with the rapid advances in this field.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2020 Careers advice by email for Year 11 From Thursday 14th May Mr Richards will be running a daily careers drop-in session by email during term time between 11 am and 1 pm, please email him if you have any queries or questions. If you require more in-depth careers guidance, he can book an email appointment for you outside of these times.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2020 Live online lesson pilot We are piloting live online lessons with a small number of classes next week. This letter is being sent out to those families where their daughter is in one of the groups. Letters are going out in the post tonight and we will also publish details of which groups are in the pilot here by the end of the week.

  • Thursday 30 April 2020 The History Curriculum at BGGS In History, students learn about their place in the world, starting from the big chronological picture and then focusing on the key themes of conflict, religion, ideas, science and technology, governments and persecution. Students learn to understand what motivates people to undertake the actions that they take and the consequences that follow.
  • Wednesday 29 April 2020 Any concerns about Home Learning? We expect that our students will be working on 2 subjects per day and 1 daily PE activity from next week.   • Wednesday 22 April 2020 Its Earth Day 2020 everyone! TITLE Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries. If school were open, we would be marking it with a range of activities, displays and assemblies.

  • Thursday 16 April 2020 The Geography Curriculum at BGGS The study of geography stimulates an interest in, and a sense of wonder about, places. It helps young people make sense of a complex and dynamically changing world. It explains where places are, how places and landscapes are formed, how people and their environment interact and how a diverse range of economies, societies and environments are interconnected. It builds on pupils' own experiences to investigate places at all scales; from the personal to the global.
  • Tuesday 14 April 2020 BGGS staff speak out about meal voucher delays Families of students entitled to free school meals have had to wait for the £15 supermarket promised by the Government. We have complained to the Department for Education and have tried to get things moving faster. Mr Clements-Wheeler, our Director of Support Services has even been quoted in two national newspapers about the unacceptable delay.

  • Monday 6 April 2020 Download the Firefly for Students app We would like to remind you about the Firefly for Students app. This app can be downloaded to your mobile phone or tablet and will help you to manage your school work.
  • Thursday 2 April 2020 Free school Meals Update The Government free school meals scheme has now started. It is being administered by schools. We will send out vouchers codes for this scheme on Friday 3rd April but we need your email address to do that. If your daughter is entitled to free school meals, you must complete a simple online form. Details here.
  • Thursday 2 April 2020 Teachers won't set lots of work during Easter After the turmoil and disruption of the last few weeks, we think that our students, their families and our staff need a break. Teachers don't have to set work according to the home learning timetable. They will just set whatever would be normal for the Easter break. Click here for more.
  • Thursday 2 April 2020 The Food Technology Curriculum at BGGS Our students will learn crucial life skills so they have the ability to feed themselves and others affordably and follow a healthy, balanced diet. Students will fully understand the environmental impact of food production, including food miles, sustainability and ethical manufacturing.
  • Wednesday 1 April 2020 Mr Sharma is now on YouTube His first two online 'lessons' are now live and are aimed at Year 9 and Year 10. Each video starts with Mr Sharma's distinctive cheerful greeting "Good learning day, Students" - for any students missing the sound of the daily act of collective worship in school every morning, hearing his upbeat intro will make you smile!
  • Monday 30 March 2020 PE recommend Joe Wicks! Joe Wicks, the Body Coach, has got children and adults up and down the country keeping fit in the comfort of their home. Wick's live workouts last week were streamed by hundreds of thousands of people and then watched by over 2 million more from Wicks' Youtube channel. P.E. with Joe will be aired live from Monday to Friday at 9am
