Our mission is for lifelong learning, where students experience enjoyment and are empowered to sustain a healthy and active lifestyle. We provide a sequential Physical Education programme.

  • Thursday 9 July 2020 The Music Curriculum at BGGS Music is about developing skills, working together and joyful participation. When students learn how to work with their audience, with each other and by themselves, then music can activate transferable skills that go on to inform and unlock potential in all other disciplines. Through performing and composing, through singing and learning an instrument, all students can access the aliveness that comes from performing with enthusiasm and commitment.

  • Tuesday 23 June 2020 Apply to borrow a USB data dongle - with data! The school has a limited number of USB data dongles available to borrow between now and when the school returns to normal operations in September. The dongles are suitable for plugging into a home laptop or PC and come with a monthly data allowance which can be used for home learning or watching relevant educational video clips.

  • Monday 22 June 2020 First pictures of face to face lessons It was great to see more students back on site today as lessons restart for Years 10 and 12. Students are attending on a rota-basis with all necessary measures in place to keep them (and our staff) safe.

  • Friday 19 June 2020 Safety Video to be played each day To ensure students know what the COVID-secure safety measure are on site, we will play this safety video each day - rather like the safety demonstration you get on an aircraft every time you fly.
  • Thursday 18 June 2020 Refunds for Prom, trips, lockers etc. The Finance Team are starting work on processing refunds for trips, prom, etc. as well as making arrangements for text book return and locker key refunds. Students will be invited individually to a refund-appointment by letter.
  • Wednesday 17 June 2020 Mr Lewis' YouTube Quiz Video Mr Lewis created a 40-question quiz and uploaded it to YouTube to keep our staff entertained during lockdown. There' no reason why students or their families can't watch the video and see if they can get a better score.
  • Wednesday 17 June 2020 Positive feedback from students and families Students in Years 10 and 12 began to return to school yesterday. Although we are only allowed to see a small percentage of our students at a time, those we did see yesterday had some wonderful things to say about BGGS.
  • Tuesday 16 June 2020 Risk Assessment Published We have published our assessment of the risks related to the phased re-opening of the school. This document (available by clicking on the link) shows what we think the risks are and the measure we have put in place to minimize the risks.
  • Monday 15 June 2020 Phased return of students This week marks the start of our limited face-to-face contact to Year 10 and Year 12 students. Starting with one-to-one pastoral review meetings this week and expanding into weekly taught lessons next week, the arrangements have been approved by the Local Authority and our governing body

  • Thursday 11 June 2020 The Maths Curriculum at BGGS At Bordesley Green we learn Maths by following a Mastery model of learning in KS3 and KS4. We believe that everyone through hard work and effort can improve their Maths knowledge and understanding. Students are encouraged to develop a deep understanding of the concepts they meet rather than learn from rules. Mathematical thinking is developed through all the topics taught and students are encouraged to use mathematical language throughout their learning.

  • Thursday 28 May 2020 The Law Curriculum at BGGS Law is part of social science, it uses rules to govern individuals' personal, social, economic and political relationships. To study law is to study the nature of those relationships. We in the Law department endeavour to empower our students with the understanding and knowledge of those rules and facilitate our students with highly valuable skills in critical thinking and problem solving.
