History is Made 2017!
The A level results this year were our best ever. 52.6 % of our grades were A*/A or B and this enabled our students to secure stunning opportunities.
Sahima Sajiid has made history at BGGS by becoming the first student to gain a place at Oxford University . With impressive A*A B grades in her A levels, an impressive interview and University tests , she has gained a place to study Law.
Many students have also accessed really prestigious courses. 4 of our girls are set to study Medicine at the University of Birmingham. Halimah Khalil (A*AA) Maryam Islam (ABC) Summaya Mohammed Isse Yusuf (AAA) and Aishah Zubaid Mughal (A*A*A* B) will all be starting there together.
Iram Gheer A*A*A* is off to the University of Birmingham to study International Relations with Economics. She will be joined by Kainat Emran A*A*A* who will study Psychology. Mildred Aba Amoh moved to the UK from Italy two years ago and managed to gain a B in Business Studies in English, while at the same time gaining A*B and D in Italian, French and Spanish. She will study Modern Languages and Business Management at the University of Birmingham. Farah Tahir (AAC) will study Law at Birmingham while Faryaal Aziz (A*AB) will study the same subject at Warwick. Halima Rashid (ABB) will study Pharmacy at Birmingham .
Zara Zahida (AAA) will study Optometry at Aston University and will be joined by Zainab Yousaf (ABB) who will study Finance there. Fadumo Mohammed Omar Ali (ABC) will study Chemical Engineering at Sheffield,
While the students mentioned above have followed a traditional A level route to prestigious courses, there are 27 vocational students studying Health and Social Care and Child Care who have all gained 3 distinction * grades. This is a phenomenal outcome.
Aisha Aliyah Bibi has a place to study Speech and Language therapy at Birmingham City University. Many such as Marya Khan , Sumera Khan, Anisah Hamad have gained places on Nursing Courses at BCU and Coventry University. Teacher training, Midwifery , Social Work and Paramedic courses have also been popular. Mariam Hussain is studying Social Policy and Criminology at Birmingham University and Sammar Khanum is studying Social Work there.
Other students have applied to follow apprenticeships which are now leading to Degrees and are therefore very competitive . Halimah Sadiah (A*BB) is undertaking a legal apprenticeship. Maimuna Omar Hassan (ABC) has gained a place on Price waterhouse cooper’s competitive School Leavers’s Programme in 2018.
We are very proud indeed of all of our Year 13 cohort. We hope that they will keep in touch with us and inspire the younger girls to aim high.
